Sunday, June 14, 2026 // Day 7
I woke up sad because this was our last morning in Waikiki - though we still had a week of adventures planned, it had been such a lovely week I didn't want it to end!
I headed to Island Vintage Coffee one last time for a breakfast acai bowl. My Liliko'i Moana Bowl was topped with strawberry, papaya, banana, liliko'i (passionfruit), honey, and granola. It was fresh and delicious - and though I knew I wouldn't miss spending $16 on breakfast every morning, I was going to miss having someone make me one of these daily!
We cleaned up our room, attempted to sort laundry and re-pack for the week ahead in Maui, enjoyed the view from our balcony one last time, then checked out.
We met up with Aaron's parents, brother, and sister-in-law in the lobby, then caravanned to the National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific. The cemetery is located in an extinct volcano known as Punchbowl in the middle of Honolulu. A veteran, Aaron's grandfather was buried here, so we set off in search of his burial site. The cemetery houses large memorials with beautiful maps mapping out the locations of battles of the wars its inhabitants fought in.
We had planned to go to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, but it was raining, so we decided to regroup at Aaron's aunt's house instead. After waiting out the rain, we then headed down to the swap meet.
Boy was it hot! Despite the rain, it wasn't super humid, but that sun sure did beat down on us! We started with lunch at the food trucks. Aaron and I split a taco plate from Mexi-hale and I got some elote from another truck. Both were absolutely delicious! From there we browsed the booths. Aaron ended up finding a sweet Hawaiian shirt to buy, but mostly we just looked.
After the swap meet, Aaron and I headed out to the Pearlridge Center to see if there was anything we wanted there. The lower part of the mall was packed - there was a big trading card event going on with booths of Pokemon and other cards all over the place! The upper part was less packed, but still busy. I bought a book at TJ Maxx, but otherwise we didn't find much of anything.
We headed back to Aaron's aunt's house where we spent the remainder of the night. Aaron's dad grilled for dinner, and we conversed until it was time for bed.
